Here are some of our favourite quick reading tips to encourage kids to read.
Here are some of our favourite quick reading tips to encourage kids to read.
- Write notes to your child and leave them in their lunchbox or in their bed to find.
- Use joke books and riddle books to encourage children to read. Kids love to tell jokes!
- Establish a family reading time. Everyone in the family sits down at the same time and enjoys a good read.
- Fill your house with reading material. If you're on a budget visit the second hand stores or our Elkhorn Fun Fair in the spring. I've found some of my best books from these places, and at a fraction of the cost of buying new.
- Get a children's magazine subscription (e.g., Owl, Yes Magazine, National Geographic Kids), the kids will get excited each time the new magazine is delivered.
